WhatsApp working on ability to edit messages

The WhatsApp messaging platform has several wonderful features, such as Disappearing Messages, the capacity to conceal your online status and profile image from particular contacts, and the capacity to delete a message after it has been delivered.

However, there is still one function that is lacking: the capacity to edit messages. The option to edit messages will prevent you from constantly having to delete an entire message because you misspelled something or typed the wrong person's name.

While there is currently no confirmation, WABetaInfo has discovered in the WhatsApp beta for Android app version 2.22.20.12 that the developer is preparing to provide the option to modify messages in a future app update.

According to the website, to view an edited version of a message if you are using an older build of WhatsApp, you will need to update it. However, it was unsure about the period for message editing.

When WhatsApp first made it possible to delete messages, you had to act quickly—within 1 hour, 13 minutes, and 8 seconds. Although this has now changed, WhatsApp may choose to use a similarly narrow window for altered messages.

However, given that Apple already provides the feature inside the Messages app on iOS 16 we'd hope to see it on WhatsApp soon. RigCurrently is official, so it's unclear when the editing messages feature will appear on the final WhatsApp version.
